Aligning the Instrument

Turn the instrument on with the 
lamp control switch (use M 
setting) which is on the base to 
the examiner's right side.  
Grossly adjust the position of 
the instrument with the joystick.  
The patient is instructed to look 
down the center of the objective 
of the instrument.  They should 
be told they will be able to see 
the reflection of their eye in the 
instrument and they should look 
directly at their eye.
